Celebrate Litsemba!

Celebrate LitsembaSummer 2010 is the summer of Litsemba with Heart for Africa.  Litsemba, hope in SiSwati, will be the central focus of all of our summer trips to Swaziland.  But Litsemba has already started.  From churches and individuals collecting blankets to beanies being knitted all over the world, Litsemba is now.

This journey of Litsemba begins here in North America and it continues on July 23, 2010 at the Somholo National Stadium in Swaziland. On this day, 15,000 orphaned and vulnerable children from Swaziland will join together for a day of praise and worship. A day that will begin a journey of Litsemba as they learn of the love of their Heavenly Father and the love of the Christian community where they live. A love that says “We are going to make sure you have food to eat. We are going to make sure that you have water to drink. We are going to make sure you have a roof over your head and clothes to wear. We are going to make sure that we are fulfilling the call of James 1:27 to look after you, our children.”

Read more about Litsemba and make your plans to join a Litsemba mission team in the summer of 2010.

89 year old BJ knits up a storm!

BJ from Michigan Knitting Beanies

BJ from Michigan Knitting Beanies

Meet BJ from Michigan. She is 89 years old and has been very ill. She has only been out of ICU for two weeks, but when she heard about the 15,000 orphans who needed warm hats she got right to work. She has made more than 100+ hats in less than two weeks! Amazing grace how sweet the sound. What a gift she is to the world and to the children of Swaziland.

Thank you to all of you who are knitting, crocheting and praying for these children.

We now have 20 states, 3 provinces and 8 countries involved. We are praying for you all as you do this wonderful work.

~Janine

“O God, from my youth You have taught me, and I still proclaim Your wondrous deeds.
So even to old age and gray hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim Your might to another generation,
Your power to all those to come.”
(Psalm 71:17-18)
